Perez, currently ranked as Miami’s No. 1 overall prospect, also ranks as Major League Baseball’s No. 2 right-handed pitching prospect and No. 9 overall, per MLB Pipeline...His fastball is ranked No. 1 in the Minors by Baseball America...In his second professional season, made 17 starts with Double-A Pensacola and one rehab start at Single-A Jupiter...In 18 combined starts, posted a 3.97 ERA (77.0 IP/34 ER) with 63 hits allowed and 110 strikeouts. Posted a 1.96 ERA (78.0 IP/ 17 ER) in 20 starts after making his professional debut with Single-A Jupiter on May 4, the fourth-lowest ERA in MiLB among pitchers with 70.0 innings plus...Was named a Florida State League Top MLB prospect. Also earned FSL Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of July 25 after striking out nine batters in 5.0 scoreless innings...Combined to post a 0.885 WHIP and struck out 12.5 batters per 9.0 innings...Allowed two or fewer hits in 12 of his 20 appearances...Did not allow more than four hits in a game all season...In 15 starts with the Hammerheads, owned a team-best 1.61 ERA (min. 25.0 IP) with 82 strikeouts. Allowed just 10 earned runs on 32 hits (two home runs) and held batters to a .163 avg...Recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts on Aug. 7 at Tampa in just 4.2 innings.
