May 17: DH to paternity list; INF/OF recalled from Triple-A Rochester
Meneses, whose partner was due to give birth to their first child later this month, was placed on the paternity list. Around 6 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday, Meneses posted to his Instagram announcing the birth of his son, Joseph.

With Meneses on the paternity list, Alu, who is Washington's No. 26 prospect, was called up from Rochester, less than 24 hours after he went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs for the Red Wings.

10-day and 15-day IL

RHP (right foot metatarsalgia)
Expected return: May
Kuhl injured his right big toe during his start on April 29. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 1, retroactive to April 30. He threw a four-inning, 65-pitch simulated game on May 15. Manager Dave Martinez said Kuhl felt good afterward. The Nationals will re-evaluate Kuhl before determining whether he needs a rehab assignment. (Last updated: May 16)

Pineda is hitting live BP, and he also is catching in extended spring games. The Nationals hope to re-evaluate Pineda in the coming weeks. He was hit by a pitch on his throwing hand during a Spring Training game on March 4. (Last updated: May 16)

Robles experienced back discomfort sliding into second base on May 6 against the D-backs. He was placed on the 10-day IL on May 8, retroactive to May 7. Robles is doing core stability work to help in his recovery. (Last updated: May 12)

RHP (right shoulder impingement)

Arano was shut down from throwing after last appearing in a game on March 3. He is rehabbing at the Nationals' Spring Training complex, where he threw a bullpen of 20 fastballs on May 10. He completed another 20-pitch bullpen session on May 13 and felt good afterward. If he continues to progress, the next step for Arano will be live batting practice. (Last updated: May 16)

Cavalli, the Nationals' No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, underwent Tommy John surgery. He will miss the 2023 season. (Last updated: March 30)
